Italian nouns are mainly classified into two : Masculine and Feminine
Italian nouns have mainly 3 endings: ‘a’, ‘e’, ‘o’
Words such as film, weekend, jogging are masculine as they are borrowed from another language and have no plural form.
1. Nouns that end with -A are mostly feminine; just change -A to –E to make it plural;
casa = house ; houses = case
pizza = pizza ; pizzas = pizze
2. Nouns that end in -O are mostly masculine; just change -O to –I to make them plural;
ragazzo = boy ; boys = ragazzi
gelato = ice cream ; ice creams = gelati
3. Nouns that end in -E could either be masculine or be feminine and you would have to know the gender of the words in order to change these nouns to plural form -E to –I;
ristorante = restaurant ; restaurants = ristoranti
notte = night ; nights = notti
