Object Pronouns

Words which replace nouns are termed as pronouns.

In Italian there are 4 basic types of pronouns. Under the four basic types of pronouns there are two basic branches that are used on a daily basis by anyone speaking Italian. These are the direct object pronouns, and the indirect object pronouns. The direct object pronouns include pronouns such as – you, me, hi, her, us, you (plural) as well as a formal form for you. The same is applicable for indirect object pronouns as well.

DIRECT OBJECT PRONOUNS are :

mi me ci us
ti you vi you
lo him li them
la her le them
La You – formal Le You – formal - plural

INDIRECT OBJECT PRONOUNS are:

mi to/for me ci to/for us
ti to/for you vi to/for you
gli to/for him loro to/for them (masc.)
le to/for her loro to/for them (fem.)
Le To/for you Formal Loro To/for you plural (formal)

3 REFLEXIVE PRONOUNS are:

mi myself ci ourselves
ti yourself vi yourselves
si himself/herself si themselves

DISJUNCTIVE PRONOUNS these are generally used after prepositions:

me me noi us
te you voi you
lui him loro them(masc.)
lei her loro them (fem)
Lei You – formal Loro You – Formal (plural)
